The Ring Goes South

Track 11 - FOTR

(2:02) Bilbo gives his Mithril vest to Frodo and covets the Ring one last time.  The Fellowship sets off on their quest.

Very quiet melody played on oboe. In, Rivendell, Bilbo pulls out the Mithril vests and encourages Frodo to put it on.

Jump ahead to after Bilbo is transformed momentarily out of desire for the Ring. Bilbo is sorry that Frodo must carry the burden.

The variant of the secondary Shire B Theme begins as Bilbo apologizes, "I'm sorry for everything" and cries.

Trilling music leads into a heroic rendition of the Shire A Theme. The Fellowship crosses the Bridge in Rivendell and begin their journey.  They pass through many landscapes.

Majestic Fellowship Theme plays as Gandalf, walking, tops a rise followed by the rest of the Fellowship. This is the full, heroic version of the Fellowship Theme played by horns.  HS COMMENT

The horns quiet as the theme ends. Gandalf says in a voice over, "We must hold the course west of the Misty Mountains for 40 days...."
