A solo voice, singing an Evenstar variant, soars over the choir which continues in the background. Arwen, who is making her way with other Rivendell Elves to the Grey Havens, has just seen a small child run past. As her eyes follow the child, a vision of a great hall appears in the forest. The child runs up into the hall and...

...into the arms of Aragorn. The two look very happy and Arwen gives a little gasp.

(Figwit has his moment of screen time as he reminds her that they cannot delay - unscored in movie) The strings swirl around the Evenstar Melody as Arwen turns her horse back from the road ahead. Snippets of the Rivendell Arpeggios can be heard underneath the melody.

She crosses a high bridge and up the empty streets of Imladris.

The music moves away from the Evenstar Melody and the Arpeggios. Throwing off her cloak she ascends the stairs to her father. She demands that he tell her what he has seen with his gift of foresight.

(He says "I looked into your future and I saw death." But she confronts him. This is not the only thing he has seen. He has seen life... he has seen her son.)

one with a melancholy air. Elrond replies, "That future is uncertain." Arwen says, "But it is not lost."

Elrond, looking defeated, sits heavily. "Nothing is certain."

(Arwen kneels next to her father. Some things are certain. She turns his face towards hers. She will not leave. It is time. A cloaked figure moves towards the shards of Narsil. None of this music is on the CD. The Rivendell Arpeggios start in the movie as Arwen moves towards the shards. We hear the words, "From the ashes a fires shall be woken. A light from the shadow shall spring." But the music on the CD doesn't start until....)

"Renewed shall be blade that is broken." Shots of Sauron breaking Narsil and Isildur using the broken blade to cut the finger from the hand. The Rivendell Arpeggios are predominant.

"The crownless again shall be king." The music quiets to a stop.

(Arwen pleads with her father to reforge the sword. He walks away from her and she collapses into a chair. Any music used here is not on CD.)

The solo voice begins the Evenstar variant again as the book falls from her hands onto the floor. Elrond picks it up and takes her hand. It is cold.
