The Lyrics

What is being sung in the score?

More info:

How can one figure out what is being sung in a particular scene?

  • You can check my comprehensive list of all the songs in each movie. These pages will list every song associated with the movies. (see more info below)

  • If it's on a standard jewel case soundtrack (OST), then go to the cue by cue for that disc and track.

  • If it's on the Complete Recordings then check out one of these pages

    • FOTR Complete Recordings Lyrics time stamps:

    • TTT Complete Recordings Lyrics time stamps:

    • ROTK Complete Recordings Lyrics time stamps:

      • Disc One - Opening to Frodo at Minas Morgul

      • Disc Two - Osgiliath is overrun to The Nazgul attack Minas Tirith

      • Disc Three - Minas Tirith is overrun to the Moth and Eagles arrive at the Black Gate

      • Disc Four - Frodo claims the Ring to End

  • If you know the name of the source song, you can go to its page and follow a link in the 'Featured In' section.

  • Don't have a clue? I used to link to a couple of forums but I don't think there's any productive work being done on either. You could try emailing me to see if I have something that hasn't gotten published on my site yet. Or you could try asking on Doug Adams' blog site.

MASTER LYRICS LISTS:

In the Master Lyrics Lists, I have tried to provide information on what is being sung in the soundtrack, often with detailed time stamps to facilitate listening to or singing along with the music. Although the amount of information provided from official sources is growing, it usually is in the form of the Source Text. The only 'official' information on what exactly is sung and how it fits with the melody comes from published sheet music (which has proven to be wrong in some cases). Some small information has been made available through participants of the LOTR symphony. But most of what you see here or on other sites comes from fans sitting down with headphones and listening, listening, listening. We do our best. But we aren't always right and much of the time, we just can't be sure or don't know at all what's being sung. I try to let you know when we're not sure. But always take what's printed here (and on other sites!) as someone's best work/guess.

The Master Lyrics Lists provide a chronological list of all the singing for each movie. Information on these pages includes:
