Text

Book 3,
Chapter 4, Treebeard

As Treebeard walks with the Hobbits (in
an extended scene) he 'sings' or recites text from two different songs.
Although both are sung in the book, they have no melody in the movie
and I hadn't thought of including them on my site. But a fan
questioned their exclusion and I am amenable to having them here.
The other source text is Bregalad's
Song. Thanks to Turesse for transcribing what's recited.
Lines of this song (not quoted here) were also inspiration for the
song, "In Dreams".
Recited
by
John Rhys-Davies. |

English
Beneath the roof of sleeping leaves the
dreams of trees unfold.
When woodland halls are green and cool, and the wind is in the west,
Come back to me, come back to me and say my land is best! |

Book 3,
Chapter 4, Treebeard
These are
three lines from a longer song that Treebeard sang to Merry and
Pippin about the lost Entwives. The Ent in the song is calling to
his Entwife to return to him. |
