When I document the themes within a
scene, I try to pull an example (for each iteration)
from the EE version of the movie and from the CR. They
don't always agree but they're usually close enough.
When I went back to my
OST cue by cue for this scene, I
quickly realized there was music on the
OST that wasn't
on the CR. So, methodical me pulled off sections from
all four sources noted below to compare. There's nothing
earth shaking there, but it can be interesting to read
what setting of the Shire Theme or what Hobbit
Accompaniment is used to underscore different parts of
the dialog. And it may be mildly interesting to compare
the dialog and on screen action between the TE and EE. I
was kind of surprised to realize that the shot of the
party scene preparations were left out of the EE. And
lastly, if I can tell myself that one person found this
useful, then it can perhaps justify all the work I do.*
*This sort of thing is a result of my
obsessive tendency in the sorting and categorizing
nature and the fact that I can't keep track of multiple
items at once. I listen to three soundclips and I've
already forgotten what the first one sounded like and
which one it was.

EE scene, "Concerning Hobbits", visit
